Gift of Spring

Good morning! Hope everyone is safe and well in this nasty weather we've been having. Most of the schools were closed around here yesterday because the roads were so bad and as I've said before, I won't attempt to drive in this stuff.
So I've been hibernating and dreaming of Spring...and creating this gift for you all so you can have a little Spring yourself...enjoy!

Featured for Valentine's Day

Good morning! Well, unless you live in eastern Ohio. The weather here is switching off between snow, freezing rain and rain. It's nasty out there folks, the roads are too icy for me to be driving and I had to send my husband to the store to stock up.

We're supposed to get 2 inches of snow in one hour...I think we're about half way there. And all this is piling on top of the several inches of snow and ice that has already accumulated in the last month or so. I can't wait for spring!

I've been passing time by crocheting and beading some really cute fairies. I'll post pics of the fairies when I can get some good shots of them.

Here's a pic of one of the items I crocheted. It's a featured item in my Etsy store right now and is a perfect gift for Valentine's Day.

It's my own design and I must say, it turned out gorgeous! It's very light too, you can hardly tell you have it on. Check it out in my Etsy store...Grand Opening Sale...free shipping through January!

Stay safe, warm and dry and have a great day!

Parkinson Disease

Well, I just shot a bunch of pics of new jewelry to put on Etsy and when I went into Photoshop to crop them they were ALL blurry. Every single one was unusable. So now I'm pissed off and that makes me shake even worse. This sucks! Even as I type this I have to backspace as much as I type because of tapping the letters too many times.

I was just diagnosed about six months ago with Young Onset Parkinsonian Disease and am taking medication for it and it really helps. I know this cause I took myself off it for a while...long enough to find out I don't ever want to do that again...about three days. In that time I went from a functioning, capable person to someone who could barely get out of bed or off the couch. My feet shuffled as I walked, barely coming off the floor, with the speed of a baby snail. I hurt all over from muscles cramping. I couldn't get a damn thing done and that's what pissed me off the most.

Definition of Parkinson from WebMD:
Parkinson's disease affects the way you move. It happens when there is a problem with certain nerve cells in the brain.
Normally, these nerve cells make an important chemical called dopamine. Dopamine sends signals to the part of your brain that controls movement. It lets your muscles move smoothly and do what you want them to do. When you have Parkinson’s, these nerve cells break down. Then you no longer have enough dopamine, and you have trouble moving the way you want to.
Parkinson’s is progressive, which means it gets worse over time. But usually this happens slowly, over a period of many years. And there are good treatments that can help you live a full life.
.........................................

No one knows what causes this and how fast it will progress...

Until I started having symptoms I didn't know much about this disease. Oh I knew Michael J. Fox had it and Muhammed Ali got it from taking too many punches to the head, and that it made them shake uncontrollably, but that's about it. Apparently I'm not the only one. Parkinson's research doesn't get nearly the funding other diseases get, even with all Michael J. Fox does to enlighten the powers that be.
Anyway....I really don't know where I'm going with all this...it's just frustrating to be so out of control and to know it's only going to get worse, but not knowing how long it will take. Knowing for a fact that you will eventually become a huge burden on your family and not being able to stop it or do anything to make up for it or ease their burden is depressing and makes all the symptoms worse.
Oh well....

Another Valentine's Day Freebie

Super Bowl

Just in case you don't know, I'm a Browns fan. I live in NE Ohio, so the Browns are my team now. When I lived in Seattle I rooted for the Seahawks. Anyway, there are a LOT of Steeler fans around here, especially now that they've made it to the Super Bowl. See, that's the only way you'll see a great majority of those fans wear their colors is if their team is winning. The Browns fans would never get to wear their gear if they waited for them to win.
But now we get to hear all about how great their team is and how much we suck...the gloating has already started...it started Sunday right after the game. It will continue, I imagine until next season the first time the Steelers lose a game. And that's because I can't imagine the Cardinals beating them come Super Bowl Sunday. If it wasn't for the fact that it's the Steelers, I'd put money on it...
But I hope and pray the Arizona Cardinals do beat the Steelers, big time even, if for no other reason than the gloating will end that much sooner. I can dream, can't I?

My First Digi-scrap Kit

Well, the snow is still deep, and it's very cold here. It was 4 degrees when I got up this morning! I lived in Alaska for 4 years and this weather really reminds me of there...and reminds me of at least one of the reasons I left...lol.
I've just been hibernating and doing some scrapbooking from Christmas and birthdays that happened in December. That and crocheting for Etsy.

I finally went and made a kit all by myself after over a year of using other people's creations. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, but because I really don't know what I'm doing yet, I welcome all feedback. Pretty please....

Anyway, here it is...hope you like it!

I hope to be offering something here at least once a week so check back soon.

See ya!

Snowing and a Freebie

Hey, what do you know? It's snowing here in NE Ohio again. We shovel the walks at least 3 time a day, but it really just is exercise in futility. At least it is warming up...that negative 9 degrees the other day was a little too cold.
Here's a pic of my back patio...it's getting deep!

I've been working on crafts and digi stuff today and thought I'd give you something I did. It's a pic I did for an altered art project and I really like the colors and message. I hope you do too.

Here's the artwork I've been working on...use it however you like. I hope you enjoy it!

First Posting

Being my first post I suppose I should tell you a bit about myself and my life...but I'll skip that for now...it'll give me something to write about later...lol!
For now I'll just let you know what to expect when you come here. Well, you could get just about anything, from a description of my husband's latest novel to a digital scrapbooking freebie to a description of a crappy day, I'm pretty unpredictable, but hopefully, it will always be entertaining or useful in some way.
Thanks for visiting....
